As with most social dynamics, the relationship between social media and society is based on an interaction in which both sides nourish and shape each other. In some cases, social demands are conveyed to large masses through social media and society determines the content on social media. In other cases, what is shared by an individual or a limited group on social media can become an issue that concerns the majority of society. It is debatable how natural all these interactions and the formation of social networks are. At this point, what is the value of the content that society accesses through social media with the guiding power of algorithms and platforms in terms of social benefit is an issue that should be considered by young people. In this session, answers to the following questions and more will be sought:
- Is what we see on social media true?
- What is the relationship between social and media and society?
- For what purpose do we use social media?
